Your first game

  1. Choose Solo, Two Players, or Online. Solo has Easy, Medium, and Hard opponents.
  2. Tap four numbered columns. Review your plan, use Undo if needed, and tap Lock Plan.
  3. In same-device play, pass the device to Black after Ivory locks a plan. Both plans stay hidden during the other player’s selection.
  4. The game resolves one drop from each player, then checks for a line of four. It repeats for the remaining pairs unless the game has ended.

Four matching pieces horizontally, vertically, or diagonally win. If both players form a line in the same pair, the game is drawn. A full board without a winner is also a draw. Drops into full columns are skipped.

Common questions

Who drops first?

The first drop alternates when starting a new local game. Ivory drops first in online matches; the player who submits the first plan alternates between online rounds.

Can I stop and come back?

Local games save on your device, separately by mode and solo difficulty. Choose the same settings to resume. Online submitted plans and the board are stored by Game Center. An unfinished online plan is not saved after leaving the screen.

Does the computer learn?

It adjusts evaluation weights on your device after completed solo games. This is local heuristic adaptation, not a cloud service or a guarantee that it gets stronger after every game.

Are online plans secret?

The app does not display an opponent’s pending plan. Match data is not a cryptographic commit-and-reveal protocol and is not advertised as cheat-proof.

Online Match

  1. Sign in to Game Center in your device’s Settings and connect to the internet.
  2. Choose Online, then Start Game. Use the Game Center match list to find or resume a two-player match.
  3. Plan when the screen says it is your turn. The other player may respond later.
  4. Use Online → Refresh after reconnecting or if the board appears out of date.
  5. Use Online → Resign to leave a match permanently. Returning to the menu alone does not resign.

After submitting the second plan of a round, you may be asked to start the next round immediately. That is intentional. There is no automatic turn timeout. Online play requires two Apple Game Center accounts and is not cross-platform.

Privacy and troubleshooting

Open Privacy & Support on the main screen, then Clear Local Data to remove local saved games, results, replays, and AI weights. This does not delete your Apple Game Center matches.

When reporting an issue, include the app version, device model, OS version, game mode, and steps that reproduce it. Screenshots are useful if they contain no information you consider private. Never send passwords or verification codes.
