Longview Chess
Privacy Policy
Summary
This Privacy Policy explains how Paul Martinez, publishing under the Longview Games brand ("we," "us," or "our"), handles information when you use Longview Chess.
Longview Chess does not contain advertising, third-party analytics, or cross-app tracking. We do not operate a Longview Chess account system, advertising profile, analytics service, or gameplay database. The app saves settings and local game information on your device. On iPhone and iPad, if you choose Online Match, Apple Game Center processes player and match information under Apple’s terms and privacy practices. Online Match is not currently available on Android.
Information stored on your device
Longview Chess may store the following locally using storage provided by iOS, iPadOS, or Android:
- game settings, including player modes, AI difficulty, and planned-move depth;
- the current local game and any locally queued moves; and
- local win-rate statistics against the Easy, Medium, and Hard computer opponents.
We do not receive this local information. You can delete it in the app by opening the information screen, choosing Privacy & Credits, and selecting Clear Local Data. Deleting the app also removes its local app data, subject to your device and backup settings.
Online Match on iPhone and iPad
Online Match is optional on iPhone and iPad and uses Apple Game Center for authentication, matchmaking, player identity, turn-based match delivery, and gameplay state. Apple—not Longview Chess’s developer—operates Game Center. Apple may process information such as your Game Center player identity, display information, match participants, match status, and game data as needed to provide the service. The Android version currently supports local play only and does not send gameplay data to Game Center.
We do not run a separate server or database that copies this information. Game Center information is governed by Apple’s policies and controls. See Apple’s Privacy Policy and your Apple Account and Game Center settings for more information.
Information we do not collect
The current version of Longview Chess does not ask us to collect your precise location, contacts, photos, health information, payment details, advertising identifier, browsing history, or messages. It has no in-app chat and does not use third-party advertising or analytics SDKs.
Sharing, retention, and deletion
We do not sell personal information. We do not share locally stored game information because we do not receive it. When you use Online Match on iPhone or iPad, gameplay information is provided to Apple Game Center so that Apple can operate the match.
Local information remains until you clear it, delete the app, or your device removes it. Retention and deletion of Game Center information are controlled by Apple. We may preserve or disclose information only if we actually receive it and reasonably believe doing so is required by law, protects rights or safety, or responds to a valid legal process.
Children
Longview Chess is a general-audience strategy game. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. Family members should use the family and parental controls provided by their device platform as appropriate.
Security and changes
No storage or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure. We limit risk by not operating an account, advertising, analytics, or gameplay-data service for the app. We may update this policy if the app’s features or data practices change. The revised policy will show a new effective date on this page.
